May I suggest a Full-Blown Turbo kit for you w/ Fat Intercooler. You'd give JRSC GSR's competition!

you could do a ls-vtec conversion. It would be street legal on most states except cali and other populated cities. Then add the blower to it and you got power. streetable and minor tuning for 6psi.

A JRSC on an LS works, but it's not the best combo. If you really mean what you says about wanting a legal, low maintenance daily driver, then a JRSC on an LS is not a bad thing.

If you get bit by the speed bug later, all that money is pretty much wasted, because a turbo is really the way to go for power on an LS and it's really expensive to upgrade the JRSC on an LS since it uses the smaller, M45 blower.

or you could buy the TypeR kit and have Endyn modify the manifold ($250 ?) so it bolts up to the LS. Voila ! Type R intake, M62 blower.

just a thought, search on my username to read my posts over the summer.

    going to 9-10 psi soon....

Lemme just say that I think that the RS/LS/GS, if properly done, are good supercharger cars... $3000 later, not including other mods. If you want a top fuel dragster, buy one... if you want a reliable BMW surpriser, get a JRSC.

While it is completely true that the GSR is faster than the non-VTEC motor, a properly equiped JRSC with a BTC and an Endyn 9psi pulley is just as quick as the JRSC GSR...

    (waiting to get flamed) smile

Anyway, I did it, and I'm happy I did... If you want any specific LS advice E-Mail me.

tom civic-i think a full blown turbo will be a lot of tuning and maintence. everybody i talk to tell me to go with turbo, like drag III. i'm still deciding. thanks anyway

green-i was thinking ls-vtec. i am from cali and people tell me it will not be street legal. how much is it anyway? if i go this route, atomic performance in fullerton is where i would mostly do it.

holden-i was thinking turbo but i am afraid of an blown engine. i am also thinking that all the gauges, turbo timer, things to keep the turbo healthy would cost me arm and a leg. i'm still deciding. thanks for the info.

ls avenger- how much hp will i get from a modded type r kit jrsc vs ls jrsc.

how much increase will i get for basic bolt ons and jrsc?

anybody heard of the crower kit for 1.8 ls?
    power gains? street legal? realiability?

    thanks guys

heh Sam, I think this is you at least. Seems like you've found the board if this is you. Good luck on whatever you decide to do, my vote still goes for the drag or ls/vtec. Let me know whatever you decide. You guys should see his car man, fat azz TypeR Conversion w/ Electron blue paint, nice ass hell....

    Wink

If it were me, I'd go to a reputable shop that has done turbo installs and REAL TUNING before. Get a quote, save up and get a DRAG III turbo. Have them tune it, and you should be fairly reliable as long as you know your car and take some precautions.

JRSC cars are not 100% reliable, while the instances of blown motors are rare, they happen. Minor things that can take your car out of commision aren't that uncommon either(as with any modification this large scale). The power is also lacking on the Non-VTEC kits, actually, any kit besides the GSR IMO.

You do have to deal with the Smog Nazis in Cali, so you be the judge of if the risk is worth it.

Or you could always sell your car and go for a faster car off the bat. Don't take that as an insult, as I have a non-VTEC Integra as well. Unless you go balls to the wall turbo, you're not going to be really "fast." In fact, people with JRSCs on GSRs and such are finding that without the "expandability" of a high flowing turbo, they are running into an invisible wall in power output unless exponentially more money is thrown into the mix.

You be the judge of how fast you wanna go and how much money you want to spend, as you're the only one that drives the car day after day.
